Orthopaedic Procedure Code Finder

Procedure codes are the codes UK private insurers and hospitals use to identify each operation or treatment. This free tool helps you find the right code for an orthopaedic procedure, and is curated by Mr Jakub Kozdryk, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.

For guidance only. Procedure codes and descriptions on this site are provided for general guidance only and are not a guarantee of insurance cover or payment. Always check the correct code with your surgeon's secretary and obtain authorisation from your insurer before treatment. Insurers shown are examples only. Other insurers are available, and each may use the same, similar or different codes and coding rules.

Common procedures

Revision knee (incl. partial & PFJ)

There is no code specifically for revising a patellofemoral replacement. Conversion of a PFJ to a TKR is usually claimed as a revision TKR (W4230) or a complex primary TKR (W4200), depending on the bone work involved. Confirm the code with the insurer at pre-authorisation.
